’Bieszczady’

Grupa Wielkokwiatowe Późno Kwitnące • Odmiana o jasnoróżowych kwiatach z jasnym, prawie białym pasem biegnącym przez 

środek działek (ma ich 6-8 eliptycznych, ostro zakończonych) oraz bordowych pylnikach na białych nitkach; średnicy 14-20 cm. 

Kwitnie od końca VI do IX. Osiąga wysokość 2-3 m. Preferuje stanowiska dobrze oświetlone, ale nienagrzewające się. Odmiana 

mrozoodporna (strefa 4-9). W sprzedaży od 2006 r. Wyróżniona na warszawskiej wystawie „Zieleń to Życie” w 2007 r. 

Odmiana jest jedną z serii 3 odmian nawiązujących nazwą do regionów Polski, z którymi hodowca był i jest związany. Bieszczady 

są ulubionymi górami Szczepana Marczyńskiego, który był przewodnikiem beskidzkim. Tam właśnie poznał swoją przyszłą żonę. 

Siewka uzyskała nazwę Bieszczady, gdyż jej barwa przypominała ukwiecone polany i bieszczadzkie połoniny. W USA odmiana 
znana jest pod nazwą handlową

Late Large-flowered Group • A cultivar of light pink flowers with a lighter, almost white stripe along the middle of each of the 

6-8 elliptic, sharply pointed sepals. Anthers are claret-red on white filaments. Flowers reach 14-20 cm in diameter, borne from the 

end of June till September. Reaches 2-3 m height. Thriving on well-lit but not overheated sites. Frost hardy (zone 4-9). Introduced 

in 2006. Received honourable mention at the Warsaw exhibition 'Green is Life' in 2007.

It is one of three in the series of cultivars named for those regions of Poland that are particularly close to the breeder’s heart. Biesz-

czady are his favourite mountains where he used to be a mountain guide and where he met his future wife. The seedling gained 

its name due to its colouring, reminding of the flower-covered Bieszczady meadows and pastures. In the USA the variety is popular 
under the trademark
