Rose YELLOW FAIRY |
A groundcover rose blooming generously over a long time with attractive yellow flowers. Tolerates semi-shaded sites. WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE: Flowers small, 2–3 cm across, semi-double in a range of yellows – from coppery gold to cream-coloured; appear in abundance from VI to X; delicately scented; gathered in large inflorescences. Leaves small, bright green, slightly glossy. Stems are caned, straight, multi-stemmed, thorny. HOW IT GROWS: A low groundcover rose. The creeping stems are up to 1 m long. The shrub reaches 0.5-0.7 cm height; grows slowly. WHERE TO PLANT: Thrives in a sunny or semi-shaded site. The soil should be fertile and moist, but well-drained. The preferred soil Ph is slightly acidic or neutral. Disease resistant cultivar. Hardy (zone 6–8). HOW TO PLANT AND MAINTAIN: Before planting immerse the plant container in water for 10-30 min. Place the root ball in a 40 x 40 x 40 cm hole with a 10 cm layer of well-rotten manure or compost, 0.5-1 cm deeper than it was before. Fill the hole with fertile soil. Regular pruning is not necessary. The only measure that should be taken is removal of dead or damaged shoots in spring. HOW TO APPLY: Suitable for house gardens, excellent for container cultivation. Spreads widely, covering the ground. ORIGIN: Denmark. Raised by L. Pernille Olesen & Mogens N. Olesen in 1988. Introduced in the market in 1989. |
