Ornamental, fragrant, creamy-white flowers, borne in whorls at the ends of shoots during May and June, followed by orange berries (July - October). Leaves obovate, green, the upper pair perfoliate, forming a disc subtending the inflorescence. It doesn't have any special soil requirements In May it's often subject to attack by aphides, especially when grown in dry and sunny positions.
