An intriguing, dioecious vine with colourful leaves and flowers. Dark green, pointed elliptic leaves are set on red petiolae and from May turn partly or completely white or sometimes – pink, similarily to Actinidia kolomikta. From the second half of May till June small pink flowers are borne, brightened up by yellow stamens. Reaches 3-5 m height, twining around supports by means of red-green tendrils. Sustains frosts up to around –18oC (zone 7). Requires warm but not overheated, wind-sheltered sites and moist but well-drained, fertile soil. Suitable for growing over various supports, arbours, walls and other plants. Native to China.
