A free-flowering Japanese cultivar. Flowers around 10 cm in diameter consist of 6-8 elliptic, bright pink sepals with deep pink or red bar along the middle. Purple anthers are set on creamy-coloured filaments. Free-flowering from the end of May till June. Flowers cover the plant tightly, nearly from the very bottom to the top. Light green leaves usually consist of three pointed elliptic leaflets. Reaches 1.5 m. Climbs by means of leaf petiolae. Suitable for growing over obelisks or other garden supports as well as along fences. It can also climb natural supports such as deciduous or coniferous shrubs not requiring heavy pruning.
