An attractive, vigorous climber of golden leaves, red new shoots and white flowers. Leaves are golden yellow, cordate, around 10 cm long. Flowers small, white, fragrant at the end of summer and in autumn, borne on well expanded plant. It climbs by twining around supports reaching 6-8 m height (2-3 m annual growth). It is slower growing but also more demanding and delicate than the average in the species. It thrives on average, well-drained garden soils. Requires wind-sheltered, well lit but not overheated sites as the leaves may get burnt. Less tolerant to frosts than the average in the species – zone 7. Particularly useful for creating colour compositions. Suitable for growing over all kinds of large garden supports or large shrubs and trees.
